The spread is the whole point. A working holiday route costs a few hundred dollars, clears in weeks and leads nowhere permanent, while an investor route can run to $16,800 and take three years. A filing service cannot tell you which of those you want, because by the time you are filing you have already decided.
Most of them lead to permanent residency, and 62 carry a published residence clock on top of that. The fastest is the L-1A (United States) at 2 years, the slowest the B Permit (Third-State) (Switzerland) at 10 years. That gap usually matters more than the fee, and it is the one thing nobody weighs while they are still picking a destination. It is why the quiz asks about your plans rather than your holiday dates.
Permit length is the other thing a travel visa cannot give you. The shortest of these runs 6 months before it has to be renewed and the longest 10 years, against the ninety days a Schengen tourist visa buys you in any rolling half-year. That is the difference between visiting a country and living in it, and it is worth knowing before you pick one.
How these numbers stay true
Every route above carries two things a comparison page usually does not: the address of the government page it came from, and the date a person last read that page. The oldest of those dates is 2 May 2026, the newest is 20 Sept 2026. Both are printed on the route's own page, next to the link out.
A job re-reads every source once a week and hashes what comes back. When a page changes, the route is flagged for a person instead of being quietly rewritten, because nothing automated can tell a reworded paragraph from a raised salary threshold.
Routes that legally exist but are not being issued right now get marked and dropped out of matching altogether. Today that mark sits on 2 of them. Leaving one in a results list would send somebody off to book an appointment no consulate is currently giving out, which is worse than showing them one option fewer.
