Short answer: It depends
Yes, with an employer who applies for an Employment Pass and a salary above the floor for your age and sector. Most accounting work needs no licence. Signing statutory audits does: that requires registration as a public accountant with ACRA.
The programmes that apply to accountants in Singapore
Fees, salary floors and processing times below come from the official sources in Transita's visa database. Processing is an estimate from the published figure, not a promise.

- Employment Pass: The pass for qualified accountants, controllers and auditors. The floor rises with age and is higher in financial services.
- S Pass: For accounts executives and associate roles below the EP floor, subject to employer quotas and levies.
- Personalised Employment Pass: For senior finance leaders on very high salaries who want a pass not tied to one employer.
The floor depends on whether you work in financial services
The general EP floor starts at SGD 5,600/mo (≈ $52,564/yr) for the youngest age band. For financial services, our data lists: SGD 74,400/yr (financial services); SGD 79,200/yr (financial services, new applications from 1 January 2027). An accountant at a bank, insurer or asset manager is measured against the financial services figure, even in a back-office role.
After the salary test, the application goes through COMPASS, the second stage of EP eligibility. MOM's self-assessment tool lets you and the employer check the profile before filing.
When you need ACRA or ISCA
Public accountants must register with ACRA to carry out independent statutory audits. If you will sign audit opinions, plan for that registration; if you work in-house or in advisory, it does not apply.
The Chartered Accountant of Singapore title, CA (Singapore), is conferred by ISCA, which the Ministry of Finance designates for that role. It is a professional credential rather than a condition of the work pass.
Fees and timing
The EP fee is $254, processing takes about 0–1 months and the first pass runs for up to 2 years. Before applying, the employer has to advertise the job on MyCareersFuture. The Singapore software engineer guide walks through the same EP steps from an engineer's side.
Who sponsors accountants in Singapore
Transita does not hold a Singapore sponsor register. The employer files the EP, so the useful check is whether a firm has hired accountants on Employment Passes before. Ask it to run the COMPASS self-assessment for your role early, since that shows whether the application is likely to pass.
The Transita sponsor register collects the official sponsor lists we hold, so you can check an employer before you apply.
