Thailand runs its long-stay routes through three separate authorities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues the Destination Thailand Visa and the Non-Immigrant categories through its e-Visa portal, the Board of Investment runs the Long-Term Resident visa, and Thailand Privilege Card Co. sells membership-based long-stay entry. Permanent residence sits apart from all of them: the Immigration Bureau only considers applicants who have held a Non-Immigrant visa with one-year extensions for at least three consecutive years.

Destination Thailand Visa

Five-year multiple-entry visa for remote workers, freelancers and foreign talent working for employers or clients outside Thailand, and for Thai soft-power activities such as Muay Thai, culinary training and medical treatment. Each entry permits a stay of 180 days. Spouses and children under 20 can be included.
Long-Term Resident Visa (Work-from-Thailand Professional)
LTR (WFTP)
BOI-administered long-stay visa for remote employees of established foreign companies. Grants a five-year stay extendable by another five, and exempts income earned overseas from Thai personal income tax. The employer must be listed on a stock exchange, or a private company with at least three years of operation and USD 50 million of combined revenue over the last three years.
Thailand Privilege (Membership Visa)
Privilege Entry Visa
Membership programme run by Thailand Privilege Card Co., a Tourism Authority of Thailand state enterprise. Membership buys a multiple-entry visa valid for five years, with no income, employment or age test. The entry Bronze tier costs 650,000 baht for five years; Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Reserve tiers run to 5,000,000 baht and 20 years of membership. The visa does not itself grant the right to work in Thailand.

Non-Immigrant Visa "B" (Business and Work)

The standard route to employment with a Thai company. A single-entry visa permits a stay of up to 90 days and can be extended at the Immigration Bureau for one year from the date of first entry. A work permit is granted separately, and repeated one-year extensions are the only route Thailand recognises toward permanent residence.
