Cities ranked by weather

Subjective comfort. Sunny days, temperate range, humidity, and seasonal extremes.

How we score this

Score 0-100. Subjective by definition. We score from the perspective of someone moving from a temperate-climate origin. Mediterranean, subtropical, and four-season-but-mild climates score highest. Weather extremes (subarctic winters, monsoon summers, hurricane corridors) reduce the score. Cities like Melbourne lose points for variability rather than absolute discomfort.

Signals we look at

  • Sunny days per year
  • Annual temperature range and humidity
  • Frequency of weather-driven plan disruption
  • Editorial subjective adjustment for newcomer comfort

Scores are editorial assessments, not algorithmic. We update them as data refreshes from public sources and as the editorial revisits each city.
